This standard specifies the requirements for a material consisting of alkaline salts and chlorine- or nonchlorine-bearing compounds suitable for use in mechanical dishwashing equipment.
Material produced in accordance with this standard is intended for use in mechanical dishwashing machines with soft or hard water. The material is suitable for use in the cleaning of plasticware, china, glassware and cutlery. Type 2 material should not be used on silver or silver-plated articles.
